General Lessons
Whether it’s riding the white water as a novice, learning the techniques of bottom turning as an improver or the correcting of bad habits adopted by the developing surfer, we offer professional surf instruction for all abilities and ages ranging from 6yrs to 60yrs
Our Open Lessons are a great way to begin. These lessons are for the very beginner to intermediates of all ages. Each lesson is at least 90minutes long, 60 minutes of which is spent in the water (allow for two hours as sometimes people can be late or changing may take a little bit of time!). Prior to entering the water your lesson will commence with a 10min talk on water safety, wave conditions and hand signals used by the Instructor to communicate with you while you are in the water. You will then be measured and fitted for your wetsuit and shown how to put it on. Next begins your Land based surfing Instruction where your instructor will demonstrate how you to catch your first wave by either tobogganing, paddling or with the help of the Instructor be pulled into a wave. Learning to get to your feet is the third part to your lesson and which can sometimes be quite challenging. But there are 3 easy steps to ensure your success at standing, which your instructor will demonstrate and encourage you to follow. After your land based instruction you are ready to ride the waves. Your instructor will accompany you into the water and will continue to encourage and help you to learn to surf. All equipment is provided for your lesson (wetsuit winter/summer, soft top surfboard, booties, in winter we also provide helmets and gloves). All surf instructors are qualified by the relevant governing bodies.
